Thought I'd share the other new "Beach" set with you today, so you can see how well  they coordinate.  Here's one of the cards:

I like the saying on this card... we can't always control the things that happen to us, but we CAN adjust our attitude towards those things that are not under our control.  A good reminder to me....and all of us... to look for the positive, even when it doesn't seem like there is anything positive in certain situations.

Well, I definitely have the "Work like a Captain" part down after the last month of working till the wee hours leading up to CHA.  I think it's time for the "Play like a Pirate" part!   So, Mr. Heater, I'm thinking it's time to dust off the big orange Sotar raft and head on down to our favorite spot on the wild and scenic section of the Rogue River.  Maybe our grandson, Gavin, will let Papa borrow his pirate eye patch.  Arrrr!

Beachy, Cottage-y..... Trendy!

OK, I know you're going to wonder about this one.  Releasing beach sets along with a "Winter" CHA release?  Here's my line of thinking....

1.  I work with a "Beach" addict... (yes, YOU, Mrs. Tonya!)... and she had just returned from a trip to Florida when I was designing the new products earlier this year.  Her enthusiasm for all things "Beachy" was contagious.  I'm hooked.  It's your fault, T.

2. Beach Cottage Style decorating items are HOT right now....after listening to Mrs. T go on and on and be so excited.... I started looking at some of the Pottery Barn types of websites and I was hooked.  Seriously.  Can I sell all my furniture (again) and start over? I'm LOVIN' some of those Pottery Barn items....

So in the end, I decided that my line of stamps is pretty heavy with Christmas/Winter designs and had room for other types of designs... AND I had this new crush on "beach" that needed some stamps to go with it.  I know, call me crazy..... but you gotta admit these are kind of fun.  Even if you don't live by the beach, who wouldn't want to visit it for a few days and relax.  The sound of the surf lulling you to sleep in your cute little beach chair... the sand tickling your toes.... the soft ocean breeze.... Am I right?  I thought so.

Here's one of the "beach" sets of stamps:

This red rubber cling mounted stamp set is #JCS156 Beach Bums, retail $18.99.  And it makes me smile.  My parents used to take us to Morro Bay (in California) in the summer.... sooo much fun! Clam chowder, salt water taffy, fishing, long walks on the beach, exploring the tide pools, catching little hermit crabs on the beach.  That's the good stuff right there.  :)

Don't worry.... Be Happy.  Not a problem... that little crab also makes me smile.

Tonya used the "Discover New Horizons" stamp to create a wording background for this one.  The punches used on the saying and compass (and a little Distress Ink on the images)  make it a quick and easy project.

Darcie's New Winter 2011 Flyer

It's been months in the works and a whole lotta hours.... and here it is, ready to premier at the Summer CHA show....my new flyer!

I was at a show in Novi recently and I had a customer say to me that she and her friends were at the hotel the night before, laying in bed talking..... about me, lol!  Yikes, with an opening line like that, I wasn't sure what was coming next.  Anyway, she paid me a really sweet compliment.... she said she and her friends were amazed at the transformation and retransformation of my line over the many years I've been designing for the crafting industry.  I took that as a great compliment and appreciated the feedback so much.  I think we all grow and evolve over the years, and I'm so very blessed to have been able to do what I absolutely LOVE, crave, HAVE to do.... to create... whatever I feel like.  And to have that be my "job".... what an amazing, awesome thing!  I'm a very lucky woman.  :)

Tin Pins #3

OK, time for a couple more sneak peeks at my new Tin Pin Buttons, in between the new stamp set sneak peeks. 

The Tin Pins are 1" round little flat back buttons that can be used as embellishments.  You can use them on your scrapbook pages and on your crafting projects.  They make adorable little flower centers for your fabric rolled roses and for paper flowers also.  I'll show you some fabric versions after CHA.

Dream Big!

I was fortunate to be able to attend a motivational conference a few years ago, and Zig Ziglar was one of the speakers.  He is a master motivator and places a heavy emphasis on setting goals and "dreaming big".  I have a book of quotes from him and I peek through it once in awhile when I'm in the planning, goal setting stages of my life.  This little framed project is going to sit on my desk.... as one of my goals is to be able to see the Eiffel Tower in person one day.  :)  

This project is made with Item #ACR19, Medium Raine Acrylic Shadowbox Frame, retail $6.99. Tonya added some twine and adorable crepe paper roses to the frame which makes it extra special, I think.

The project was made using my new set of red rubber cling mounted stamps:

The stamp set is #JCS151 My Sentiments Exactly, retail price $18.99.  It was designed to coordinate with the set shown in THIS POST a couple of days ago.

We have a lot of samples for this particular stamp set, as it was a Darcie's Club shipment recently.  I'll share more on the most recent Darcie's Club shipment when I return from the CHA show.  Here's another card:

I guess I've *always* been a fan of these colors, they seem to be a recurring theme in my life, lol.  Lime green, pink, pale blue combined with the tan... with a touch of the old fashioned roses to make them even more trendy... I'm loving these samples, Tonya!

We stamped all of the images used on these cards with Ranger's Archival Ink (Coffee) and added the Distress Ink accents to them using a Ranger Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool with a Foam Pad.  Super quick. Super easy. Super fun!

New Products!

The old saying really is true..... if you fall off the bike, you need to get right back on it and head on down the road.  I've experienced that a number of times in my life, both with my bike... and in business.  :)  I feel like I lost the grip on the handlebars of my blog a couple of months ago, lol.  Too many creative adventures, too many ideas all at once and not enough time to squeeze them all in a day.  So instead of one massive make-up blog post, I'm creating a number of short ones.  Some of them will automatically post while I'm gone at CHA.

Thought I'd share one of my favorite samples from the new flyer:

Love, love, love this one!  Tonya did an excellent job on all the new samples!  :)  We're having fun using Ranger's Distress Inks on the stamped images and layering them for a dimensional look.  They could also be stamped directly onto the paper and colored with watercolor pencils or markers for a completely different look.  Tonya used streamers and tissue paper on some of the new samples for a cute "ruffle-y" look.  

And speaking of CHA, my boxes of new products and samples are happily winging their way to Chicago-land.  Whew.  Done!  I'll be posting my flyer this weekend, so you'll be able to see all of it before the show starts.
